Disposition:
- LOYAL: Over the course of a decade, Shinobu has been steadfast in her loyalty to Travis Touchdown, even if their initial meeting resulted him in cutting off her right arm. Even if she was initially pissed that he didn't kill her at the time, Shinobu has since moved past that and has stepped in to save him a few times, even cutting a few year trip to Asia short to kill some assassins on his behalf. Though in the past she could be a little overbearing in her loyalty (particularly when she formerly had romantic interest in him, which has since died down, seven years later), she's seemingly since moved on to be more independent and do her own thing - even if she does still call him "Master" to his chagrin. There would likely be elements of this loyalty in any other friendships she would make in game, even if wouldn't be quite as intense as her connection to Travis.
- (WEIRD) SENSE OF HONOR AND MORALITY: -Even in her days of murkier morality, Shinobu has always seemed to hold some kind of sense of honor, in spite of being an assassin. Unlike some others in her profession, she never resorted to dirty tactics to get one over on an opponent, preferring to best them off of skill alone. It likely stems from the teachings of Bushido from her father and grandfather, of which she's now passing onto a new generation of children herself. However, this has also manifested in strange ways, such as becoming upset when she wasn't killed after losing a fight - she's since moved on from that incident, thankfully.
As far as her morality goes, she starts the series with killing three classmates in high school just for overhearing a conversation that implicated her as an assassin. Obviously even back then, she didn't take pride in taking the lives of people that couldn't fight back, but it was something Shinobu felt like she had to do, at the time. Since then, she's made a switch to become more of a freelance assassin and seems more comfortable in the role, mostly because now she gets more of a choice in who she kills. Even if she's more focused on helping the children of a poor area through her dojo, Shinobu still hasn't turned her back on the assassin life because there's too many terrible people in the world, in her own words. But also, she uses the blood money to funnel into making the kids' lives better. However, she still does her best to hide her life as an assassin from the public view, mostly to try to avoid having the kids of her neighborhood having to witness something similar to what she went through in her youth.
- CONFIDENT - One thing that's remained consistent across three different games is that Shinobu is very confident about her abilities to the point of being boastful about it - particularly during fights. It was particularly bad in her first appearance when her habit to stop in the middle of her boss fight to taunt Travis was likely the cause of her losing the fight. That loss was an especially humbling experience for her, which resulted in an impromptu trip to Asia to try to better her skills. Since returning, she herself says that she's "confident, but not over confident" in herself. She will still absolutely banter during fights (and yes, still taunts occasionally), but she's also self-critical enough to be able to analyze when she makes mistakes in fights and will chastise herself over it.
- CHILL (WHEN NOT FIGHTING) - Though Shinobu perhaps had some anger issues in her youth, she's seemingly got that aspect of herself under control by the second game. She remains calm through a bit of a disagreement with a woman she doesn't like, being provoked by two different assassins, and even having her romantic advances rejected. However, it should be noted that depending on the circumstances, Shinobu can be VERY rude against opponents (including telling one guy to not let his ass hit the door on the way out when he was dying).
- DISASTROUS TASTE IN MEN - If I had a nickel for every time this has happened, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's still weird that it happened twice. First, she had romantic interest in Travis, who is pretty much the biggest loser and then in Travis Strikes Again, Shinobu mentions having a different ex-boyfriend who was a gamer and wouldn't take her out on dates (which is why she hates video games) or listen to her. It contrasts with how she's a perfectionist in many other areas of her life, but yet that doesn't seem to extend to the topic of choosing romantic interests.
Suitability:
Though Shinobu can be a little standoffish with strangers, she does at least have a desire for a romantic connection and as long as people aren't like glomping her or something, she's probably not going to have that much of a problem against Synchrony, other than thinking it's dumb. Also, when she's going to eventually look into opening a dojo to help the native kids out in a poor area, she's gotta make her money somehow! And having some experience with the world of Prismatica, she's already v familiar with the idea of body changes, even if she too thinks that's stupid when she works this hard to look good.
As far as the world goes, yes she's still going to want to go back to her world, because she's got shit to do! However, it's not like it's her first foray into some strange world and at least this time she isn't being teleported into a video game (like in canon), because FUCK video games.
Abilities:
KATANA SKILLS
-Gentōken -- Shinobu can charge up her sword to unleash a blast of energy that can attack enemies from long distances.
-Apparently has enough strength to decapitate enemies.
-Somehow, she's also capable of blocking gunfire with her blade.
-Was the daughter of someone considered a master swordsman, and her grandfather was a co-instructor in some form of assassination, so it's probably safe to assume that she's extremely competent in the art of the blade, in general. To support this, even with an artificial arm, she seemingly has no setbacks in using her katana. Even when she rips off that said artificial arm (it was to escape a hold, okay), she still has no issues in using it with her seemingly less dominant hand. Later on, both of her arms are replaced by prosthetics after both get ripped off, but it doesn't take very long before she's decapitating assholes again.
AGILITY
-Can jump very high and flip over a person’s head in spite of not being any more than five feet flat herself (not including high heels)
-Seems to be very good at parkour, able to kick herself off of a building while in air gracefully.
-Shinobu can also do a diving attack with her katana.
-She's really fast, seemingly capable of flash stepping during combat.
-She can somehow lodge her sword into a person and spin on the handle to drill it in more. I don't even know, it makes no goddamned sense. The point is, she's stupidly good with the agility thing.
BIONIC ARMS
-It's not clearly explained what exactly they're capable of, in canon, but she ripped a guy's robotic appendage off with ease, seemingly using no effort at all. So it's likely that the prosthetics give her a bit more strength than usual.
-But they can also be ripped off fairly easily if someone also has some sort of enhanced strength.
-In addition to this, it seems like they have the ability to negate electricity -- Destroyman attempted to shock her through a handshake, but it didn't seem to have any effect on her. "Was this supposed to 'spark'? Lame."
OTHER
- She can fight in high heels. She's so short that she wears that shit in BATTLE.
- Can speak both English and Japanese.
- Is knowledgeable enough in martial arts and bushido to the extent of being able to teach it to children.
Inventory: Her katana, along with its scabbard and a whetstone to sharpen the blade. Also, a tube of lipstick in the pale purple shade she likes.
