[It takes Shinobu a few minutes to respond as she's hit up with more messages than she anticipated.]

He's good. Napping right now.
[Ever since Dagger went missing, Shinobu had started to give her furball a little more affection to try to console herself. Needless to say, it was lapping up the attention happily.]
[Well, she wasn't actually asking about Ares. She'd already sussed out that Dagger was attached to Shinobu and reasoned Shinobu was at least a little bit attached back. Armada's confirmation that Shinobu was Dagger's favorite cemented her conclusions and...and Erin is not without empathy for people who lose someone important. Not always anyway.]

Something like that. Wanted to make sure you haven't lost his helmet. He's cute with it.
[While she kept as mum as she could, while Dagger was still around, it was mostly to try to protect him. But since he was gone now, it didn't really matter.
Apparently it wasn't enough after all.]

Of course. It gets upset when it needs to take it off.
[Because, unfortunately, it really didn't work well with the whole growing thing.]

I think it likes feeling special over other furballs, or something. Or maybe it just has a heightened sense of style.
I'm surprised it can still wear it. They were pretty tiny when they first arrived.

You probably are already, but keep an eye on him. I know how much he likes to explore.
[Keep him away from Honey, she means. If Honey went after Dagger, who's to say she won't go after Dagger's favorite next? The list of KIA was short, and she didn't know many names anyway, but the fact that an instructor was on it is a little disturbing.]
Yeah, if you're gonna go out, at least go out with a bang.
[It was another thing on her mind; Dagger deserved better than this. Better than some whiny, security girl taking his place. But, she had to bide her time. For now.]

I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to get more watchers from other teams. If nothing else, it adores you.

It was a little bit too big when it first came. If I get a chance, I'll buy it a bigger one.

It either stays with me almost all the time. Shuyi usually watches it when I'm out. I'm not about to let it die in a dumb way.
[For whatever reason, Dagger gave it to her to look after. It was her responsibility to make sure it became the best it could be.]

Nothing should die in a dumb way.
[And then, because why the hell not:

A lot of them seem to like me okay. I guess I have a way with animals.

I guess so. I'll let you know if I need your help.
