[Hey now, Shinobu had to stab teammates before just to get Dagger to agree to get her a can of hair spray before. YOU BETTER WORK TO EARN THOSE BEAUTY PRODUCTS.]
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.
[As far as she could tell, he at least didn't to be quite as... impulsive as Thing 1. That was a good thing.]
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
I've got about as much of a handle as one could have, at this point. Hopefully you'll stick around long enough to be a benefit to the unit.
[EHHHH yeah fair enough. (cue obligatory lazy-ass groaning, nonetheless, though very much off-screen).]
[but oh, a level head was about the best quality he had to offer. so, yes, Thing 1 was cuter.]
FROM: trip@cdc.org How high is the typical turnover rate? I've the impression there aren't often new recruits, but that they come in droves when they do arrive.
I was among the group of the first recruits. I think there was about 200 then? If I had to guess now, there's probably about 50 of us left from that group.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
Not as many people die as you'd think, though. Most seemingly get transferred to other crews out of the blue.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
But yeah. We don't get new batches of recruits often, but when we do, it tends to be in numbers around 50.
To be fair, the apex species in the one planet we destroyed were these creatures that liked to vomit on everything. They were fierce fighters, but not the smartest thing in the universe.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
But I guess it should be interesting to see how future planets go.
They gave us that much, at least. Even if the outfits were pretty boring. The shopping channel at least opened up at some point so I could get better looking clothes.
We wouldn't be very useful dead.

Everyone was given CDC-issued guns and hunting knives. I came with my katana, so I didn't need any additional weapon.
FROM: trip@cdc.org That means something, especially given the recruits and your weapon of choice. Can't exactly pick enemies off from afar with a katana.

Garrus is an interesting one, but I know him fairly well enough to know that I've gotta be careful in who I assign to look after him.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
I figured I'd assign Green to his roommate, which is one of the Peters, but I'll give you Sebastian.
[After some amount of time -- more than a few minutes, but less than an hour, she sends him another message:]
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
All right, I'm assigning you this list:
KORRA (NHD-C12-KRA-152)
ZUKO (NHD-C12-ZKO-083)
MISAKA, MIKOTO (M02-B25-032)
MICHAELIS, SEBASTIAN (M02-B25-666)
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
And of course, find anything you can on SHEPARD, LYDIA (NHD-C12-SHD-011). If there's any problems, let me know.
[But with that business out of the way, boy, oh boy, did you come to the right girl.]
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
What are you looking for? Hair products?
no subject
Understandable.
[for the first part. nothing more until the next batches of texts; even then, a handful of minutes later--]
FROM: trip@cdc.org
Shouldn't be a problem.
FROM: trip@cdc.org
At this point? Anything.
But hair products would be a nice start.
no subject
Unfortunately, that kind of thing is pretty limited, until they decide we can buy stuff from the shopping channel.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
And considering they just let us shop on that colony? We probably won't get another chance at shopping for a while.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
I stocked up on hair products there, though. If you do good on this assignment, maybe I can give you something.
[She spent 80 credits alone on hair care products, okay. She's well stocked.]
god sorry for how late this is.
[it didn't feel too low.]
FROM: trip@cdc.org
I'll get back to you soon, in that case.
FROM: trip@cdc.org
Temporary or not, I hope it'll be a pleasure working with you, Shinobu. It seems like you've a handle on how this place works.
no prob!
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org

Only 200 to dismantle an entire planet?
FROM: trip@cdc.org
Huh.
FROM: trip@cdc.org
I didn't arrive with any expectations, but somehow, I feel as if they've been broken.

Vomited.
FROM: trip@cdc.org
On everything.

Yep. It was a pain in the ass to wash off too.

Disgusting.

I'm glad I missed that planet.

Some things were kinda fun, like fighting four-legged sharks, but the whole arctic tundra thing made it pretty lame a lot of the time.

FROM: trip@cdc.org
I'm assuming they provided proper clothing given the lack of deaths from hypothermia.
But did they provide better weaponry for fighting the sharks?

Would you consider yourself an exceptional human?
no subject
Geez, that's a hell of a question to ask someone.
That'd depend on what you consider exceptional.
no subject
Modesty, or honest curiousity?
FROM: trip@cdc.org
I'd have to think how to define one here, though. Can't work off a baseline that doesn't universally exist.
no subject
I don't know anything about you. Exceptional could mean anything from being a physically strong person to being a saint in character.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
I could kick most people's asses, among us recruits, but that might not mean anything to you.
[HA. Modesty.]

My katana isn't exactly normal.
[Or maybe it was her who wasn't normal.
We just don't know, in this canon.Regardless, she had a way of dealing with long distances.]FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
If I didn't have a way to deal with many different types of battles, I wouldn't be worth as much to the CDC.
